This is my list of the top 10 design online shops from Germany. I spend hours examining online shops searching for design products, gifts, home accessories and urban art for decoration. Due to my job many of the following shops are nothing I stumbled upon but more personal recommendations. It’s not only the selection of products, it’s the whole business model and the shopping experience that make a difference. Clearly the best online shop for high quality design gifts. charlesandmarie.com is perfect when you are looking for unique design gifts and small home accessories. This is the place where you find products before you can buy them anywhere else. They offer products from a broad variety of brands and designers.. The guy behind charlesandmarie.com is Claus Krogmann. Claus is frequently traveling the globe in search for beauty, originality, invention and genius. He is a true design lover and a very well connected business man (ex VITRA country CEO later helped Fab.com to source the latest in design for Europe).
Make sure you check out the “Soupe Du Jour”! As its culinary namesake suggests the “Soupe du Jour” is a limited daily deal that changes every single day – except on weekends.

Elegant and creative Anna Bojic founded Merisier in 2011 in Berlin Kreuzberg. Merisier is dedicated to the true values of gifting. Anna assembles eco friendly and fair trade products from small international manufacturers and creates beautiful gift boxes that cannot be found anywhere else. Every gift is wrapped with greatest care and beautiful detail. MERISIER is French and means “wild cherry”.

Donkey Products creates urban gifts for happy people. Every product tells a little story; one of the kind that makes you smile. They call this the “Donkey-Effect”.
Donkey Products is the only internationally successful gift brand from Germany. The Hamburg based studio was founded by chief creative donkey Florian Berger who developed the online shop together with Netshops Commerce (they also did the vitra shop). I really like the outstanding product presentation focus in a responsive full screen design which also works perfect on every mobile device. The Donkey online shop won the 2014 Best in eCommerce Award in the category “Beste Mobile-Commerce”.

selekkt.com is a marketplace for young German product design. More or less 600 up and coming designers sell over 5.000 unique products. Selekkt is refreshingly creative, often made regionally and durable in shape and function. A very good mirror of what’s going on in German product design and lifestyle.

Andrea and Christoph spent long parts in their life sharing an apartment, studying, laughing, fighting and crying together. They have a passion for beautiful things and arrangements. What is even more important is that they had the courage to create a business exactly how they wanted it to be. “Kauf Dich Glücklich” which means as much as “Acquire happiness” is a very unique concept store. The philosophy has spread and today you can find bricks and mortar stores in Berlin, Bremen, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne, Munich, Munster, Nurnberg, Stuttgart and in Vienna.
