GERMANY’S GIFT MARKET EXCEEDS € 10 BILLION AND IS STILL CLIMBING

Gifts for occasions such as birthdays, Mother’s Day, wedding, anniversary, Christmas or just because… Germans have several reasons and love gifting to friends and relatives. Over here gifts are a multi-billion dollar economic factor a growing market for the industry, commerce and designers.

The Germans are in a good good buying mood. The main reason behind this: employment continued to grow, the income continued to rise, inflation was low and the propensity to buy was high – even for gift items. So 2013 gift items with a value of nearly € 9.6 billion were purchased. In 2014 the volume of gift items exceeded € 10 billion. In other words, each person with at least 16 years in Germany spent and average of € 142 on gift items.

These figures were revealed by the German IFH (Institute fro Trade Research at Cologne University) and you can buy the study here: shop.ifhkoeln.de
