THE UNOFFICIAL WATERING HOLE OF DESIGN INSIDERS IS BAR BASSO – MICHAEL YOUNG PRESENTS A GIN & TONIC TUMBLER IN MEMORY OF JAMES IRVINE

A BAR WHICH MANY HAVE NEVER SEEN FROM THE INSIDE OR CAN’T REMBER…

Arriving at Bar Basso during the Milan Design Week is comparable with watching animals on a safari trip in Africa. Wild and thirsty designers travel from far away to their watering hole.

Bar Basso is one of very few cocktail bars in the world where the tradition and charm of the great international bars is still alive and kicking. A place for connoisseurs who like to enjoy a flawless drink in style. A truly cult bar for sophisticated drinking devotees and of course for designers. This year Maurizio Stochetto (the owner) teamed up with Maria Cristina Didero for a project they call The Chelsea Boy. A clean and functional gin and tonic tumbler designed by Michael Young who dedicated it to designer James Irvine who died in 2013. Maurizio told me that the glasses will be produced by Wonderglass and he hopes they will be available at the end of this or beginning of next year. I will keep my fingers crossed for him and place an order as soon as it’s on the market.
